The opening ceremony of the cultural tourism short drama -My Champion Guidance- was held in Xiangyang

On October 16, the filming ceremony for the short drama “My Champion Guide,” a collaboration between People’s Reading Information Technology (Beijing) Co., Ltd. and Douyu platform, took place in Xiangyang, Hubei Province.

“My Champion Guide” is an inspiring youth-themed piece that focuses on the growth and development of Chinese teenagers. The narrative weaves together elements of youth, eSports, science fiction, history, and cultural tourism. It dramatizes the exchanges between contemporary young eSports players and historical figures like Wang Zhaojun, Zhuge Liang, and Li Bai, depicting an inspirational journey where today’s youth seek wisdom from the past. The story aims to promote the unique values of loyalty and integrity inherent in Chinese culture while showcasing the spirit and cultural heritage of China.

Qi Cheng, a professional eSports player from the Shenzhen DYG team portraying the character A Cheng, expressed, “It’s an honor to play A Cheng as a professional eSports player. Through this character’s growth, I aim to represent the spirit of teamwork and trust that exists within our eSports community.”

In recent years, the short drama format has surged in popularity, emerging as a vibrant and promising new genre in online arts and culture. “My Champion Guide” plans to leverage innovative formats, content, and distribution methods in the “short drama+” model to further promote media integration, contributing to the high-quality development of short dramas.

Actor Yu Mofan, who has a special role in the series, shared, “While preparing for my role, I did extensive research and learned about Xiangyang’s rich historical and cultural background. I hope that through this short drama, we can attract more people to Xiangyang to experience its culture.”

Actress Ning Tong, who plays the character Tang Xiaoxiao, remarked, “I believe this cultural tourism short drama will be an excellent way for both me and the audience to broaden our horizons. I hope viewers will come to know and fall in love with Xiangyang through this work.”

Additionally, “My Champion Guide” will be filmed entirely in Xiangyang, showcasing the city’s unique attractions such as the ancient city, Tang City, and the Xiangyang Science and Technology Museum. Through the innovative “cultural tourism + short drama” model, the series aims to empower the cultural tourism sector with quality content, bolster cultural confidence, and infuse greater momentum and vitality into the construction of a culturally strong nation.
