The 23rd Knife Expo opens in Yangjiang with the first cross-border e-commerce source factory exhibition area

On October 18th, the 23rd China (Yangjiang) International Hardware and Scissors Expo, commonly known as the “Knife Expo,” kicked off at the Yangjiang International Convention and Exhibition Center. This year’s event features a new cross-border e-commerce source factory exhibition area aimed at integrating more high-quality source manufacturers into the international trade supply chain, thereby enhancing the efficiency of collaboration across the industry chain.

Yangjiang is celebrated as the “Capital of Chinese Knives and Scissors” and stands out as a major production hub for hardware knives and scissors in China. Over several decades, the knife and scissors industry in Yangjiang has developed into a distinctive industrial cluster with a complete supply chain, diverse product offerings, and substantial scale. Currently, the total industry output value exceeds 55 billion yuan, accounting for approximately 70% of national production and about 85% of exports, with products reaching over 130 countries and regions worldwide.

This year’s Knife Expo is themed “Developing New Quality Productivity to Propel Industry Advancement.” The exhibition spans roughly 20,000 square meters, showcasing 266 exhibitors from around the globe and attracting nearly 10,000 buyers. Among the notable participants are major domestic brands such as Yanzhizi, Wangmazizi, and Zhang Xiaoqi, alongside prestigious manufacturers from Sweden and Japan, drawing over 160 buyers from 28 countries and regions including Germany and Romania.

A key highlight of this year’s expo is the introduction of the cross-border e-commerce source factory exhibition area, designed to enhance the entry of quality source factories into the international trade procurement chain, while boosting supply chain collaboration. Additionally, the event features a variety of activities centered around cross-border e-commerce, including a series of RCEP e-commerce outreach initiatives and a face-to-face discussion forum titled “Gathering E-commerce Experts to Explore New Opportunities in the Industry.” There are also designated areas for live e-commerce streaming and RCEP cross-border e-commerce showcases.

Zhang Dongli, Chairman of the China Hardware Products Association, remarked that the Knife Expo is recognized as “the premier showcase for the Chinese hardware and scissors industry.” It serves as an international platform for domestic and foreign businesses to display product technology, negotiate trade partnerships, and exchange development trends. The Association aims to act as a bridge between the government and enterprises, fostering international technological collaboration and facilitating cutting-edge discussions within the Yangjiang hardware knife and scissors industry, thereby driving innovation, sustainability, and intelligent advancement.

Under the influence of the Knife Expo, the Yangjiang hardware and scissors supply chain continues to refine and accelerate brand clustering, further invigorating market dynamism. From January to August this year, Yangjiang’s knife and scissors exports reached 2.88 billion yuan, accounting for over 80% of the national total.
