Scholars of Zhu Xi and descendants of Zhu Xi gather in Wufu Ancient Town. Zhu Xi’s culture enhances the emotional identity of compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Strait.

In an interview with Wen Mingzheng, the president of Taiwan’s Yangming Academy, he shared his commitment to promoting the dissemination of Zhuzi culture over the years. “Zhuzi culture strengthens the emotional bonds among people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait, bringing us closer together,” he stated.

The 2024 Wuyi Mountain Zhuzi Culture Week, themed “The Way in Wuyi, Principles in the World,” was held from October 17 to 19 in Wuyi Mountain’s Wufu Town. Alongside the event, a completion ceremony for the second phase of the Zhuzi Culture Park was also conducted, drawing over a hundred experts and scholars in Zhuzi culture from both sides of the Strait, as well as descendants of Zhuzi.

“The completion of the second phase of the Zhuzi Culture Park is not just about finishing a construction project; it symbolizes a new starting point and a higher level for the inheritance and development of Zhuzi culture,” said Zhu Chongshi, the president of the Chinese Zhuzi Society, in his address. He emphasized that the park serves as an important physical manifestation of Zhuzi’s significant achievements and the architectural style of that era. It carries our historical memories and cultural roots while bearing the great mission of inheriting and promoting the outstanding traditional Chinese culture.

One of the highlights of the Wuyi Mountain Cultural Week was an event themed “Zoucheng Mencius and Wuyi Zhuzi.” Experts from both sides engaged in scholarly discussions on various topics including “The Thoughts of Mencius and Their Historical Impact on Society,” “The Story of Mencius’ Mother and the Inheritance of Maternal Education Culture,” “The Inheritance and Development of Confucian Culture by Mencius and Zhuzi in Taiwan,” and “Zhuzi’s Contributions to the Inheritance and Development of the Confucian Classic ‘Mencius.’”

This event was jointly hosted by the Chinese Zhuzi Society, the World Zhu Clan United Association, and the Wuyi Mountain Cultural Heritage Promotion Taskforce.
