In an unsettling case out of Mount Olivet, Kentucky, 32-year-old Torilena May Fields is alleged to have dismembered her mother in the backyard of her home. After her arrest, authorities discovered human remains in a pot inside the oven.

According to reports from the Associated Press, police received a call on October 9 about dismembered body parts found on the grass in the backyard. When officers arrived with a search warrant, Fields refused to open the door, prompting them to deploy tear gas and use a police robot to communicate with her. Eventually, she was convinced to exit the residence peacefully, avoiding a more forceful intervention.

Witnesses noted that Fields appeared with blood on her face, hands, and clothes. In addition to the body parts found outside, police confirmed the discovery of human remains within a pot in the oven, although it has not been disclosed whether the remains had been cooked. A male caller reported that the deceased is believed to be Fields’ mother, Trudy, suggesting that Fields may have been struggling with substance abuse issues leading up to this tragic event.
