-Focus on the forest and explore Daiyun- ecological scientific research activity was held in Dehua, Fujian

On October 18, the “Focus on Forests: Exploring Daiyun” ecological research initiative took place at the Daiyun Mountain National Nature Reserve in Dehua County, Fujian Province. Ten experts from six research institutions, including Xiamen University, Fujian Normal University, Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University, Minjiang University, and the Fujian Forestry Science Research Institute, engaged in a collaborative investigation. Their activities included on-site assessments and the deployment of infrared cameras to study the forest ecosystem and the wildlife resources in the area.

The Focus on Forests initiative has been actively promoting the philosophy of “Green mountains and clear waters are as valuable as mountains of gold and silver” since its establishment five years ago. Over this period, the program has launched numerous forest ecological construction projects and a variety of ecological cultural activities. Notably, the exploration series has expanded from Wuyi Mountain National Park to the Minjiang River source and the Daiyun Mountain Nature Reserve, significantly contributing to the promotion of ecological civilization ideals, the dissemination of forest ecological culture, and the popularization of natural science knowledge.

Daiyun Mountain, the highest peak in central Fujian, serves as a vital biodiversity gene pool, an ecological safety barrier, and a haven for rare wildlife on the southeastern coast of China. It is also the primary source of the Dazhangxi River, a major tributary of the Minjiang River. The conservation of Daiyun Mountain plays a crucial role in safeguarding biodiversity, ecological security, and water source preservation in central Fujian.

The “Focus on Forests: Exploring Daiyun” ecological research event aims to showcase the authenticity and integrity of Fujian’s forest ecosystem from multiple perspectives. It encourages society at large to pay attention to forests, enhancing biodiversity protection and fostering a culture where everyone contributes to reforestation and environmental conservation. This initiative is pivotal in building a beautiful home where humans and nature coexist harmoniously.

Fujian has long adhered to a path of ecological priority and green development. The province continues to implement the “Eight Major Forestry Projects” while scientifically conducting land greening actions. The focus is on improving forest quality and enhancing forest ecological functions, creating diverse forest landscapes, and building a rich green legacy.
