Nasa astronaut hospitalized after return from International Space Station

A NASA astronaut who recently returned from the International Space Station is currently hospitalized due to an unspecified medical condition, although officials report that the individual is stable. This comes after the four-member Crew-8 mission completed a successful splashdown off the Florida coast early Friday, marking the end of nearly eight months spent in orbit.

The SpaceX Dragon spacecraft executed a normal re-entry and splashdown, and NASA confirmed that the recovery of both the crew and the spacecraft went smoothly. However, during routine medical assessments aboard the recovery ship, officials indicated they requested “an additional evaluation of the crew members out of an abundance of caution,” without providing further details.

The crew, which included NASA astronauts Matthew Dominick, Michael Barratt, and Jeanette Epps, along with Roscosmos cosmonaut Alexander Grebenkin, was transported to Ascension Sacred Heart Pensacola. While three members have since been released, one NASA astronaut remains hospitalized “under observation as a precautionary measure.”

NASA has emphasized that it will not disclose specific medical information to protect the privacy of the crew member but has committed to providing updates as they become available.
