On October 20th, the 2024 Three Gorges Cycle Race concluded in Chongqing, with Eduard Michael Grosu from the MachMaster-incolor team, wearing jersey number 33, claiming victory in the men’s elite category.
The Three Gorges Cycle Race is a premier event in China’s cycling scene, uniquely blending competitive racing with scenic cruises. Participants reside and travel aboard a cruise ship, experiencing the stunning Three Gorges landscape from a fresh perspective while pedaling through the course. Spanning three days, the event includes stops at Wushan, Yunyang, and Wanzhou, covering a total distance of 294.8 kilometers, with 140.8 kilometers dedicated to cycling.
The final stage was held in Wanzhou, featuring a city circuit race that began and ended at the Wanzhou Sports Stadium bus station. Cyclists rode along notable routes including Beibin Avenue, Nanbin Avenue, Wanchuan Avenue, the Wanzhou Yangtze River Bridge, and Jinling Road. For the men’s elite, men’s open, and women’s open categories, competitors raced two laps covering 56.4 kilometers, while the men’s and women’s challenge groups completed a single lap of 28.2 kilometers.
As the race commenced, the men’s elite group set off first, followed by the women’s open, men’s open, and both challenge categories. Participants faced significant challenges due to rain and the undulating terrain.
