On October 8, a reporter from China News Service spoke with officials from the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region’s Department of Culture and Tourism about the remarkable tourism statistics during the 2024 National Day holiday. The region’s A-grade scenic spots attracted around 4.08 million visitors, generating approximately 211 million yuan in tourism revenue. This marks an impressive year-on-year increase of 30.39% in visitor numbers and 31.68% in spending.
During the “Eleventh” holiday, the Ningxia Department of Culture and Tourism partnered with cultural and tourism departments across five cities to leverage the strengths of regional and local businesses. Their strategy included horizontal cooperation, vertical connectivity, joint promotions, and real-time scheduling. They launched the 2024 “Celebrate National Day and Enjoy Ningxia” initiative, featuring 134 themed cultural and tourism events. To further entice visitors, the department distributed 100,000 free tickets to scenic areas and offered a 50% discount on the “Ningxia Tourism Card,” limited to 50,000 cards. Additionally, 31 scenic spots in Ningxia provided reduced or free admission for first-time college students, effectively combining consumer-friendly policies with holiday festivities to stimulate the local economy.
To elevate personalized, diverse, and high-quality travel experiences for tourists, Ningxia introduced a range of new cultural and tourism projects aimed at transforming each site into a space for sharing beautiful life experiences. The Yinchuan Flower Expo Park unveiled the “Mountain and Sea Night” immersive night tour, which features a 3.9-kilometer walking avenue along with engaging activities such as illuminated penguin exhibits and a chrysanthemum exhibition in honor of National Day. The immersive performance town “See Helan” offers visitors an exciting four-hour night entertainment experience, while the Phoenix Fantasy Town in Yinchuan Cultural City captivates with a diverse lineup of performances and unique culinary offerings.
Just prior to National Day, three rural tourism routes from Ningxia were selected by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism as part of its collection of 85 “Tasty Country Life” boutique rural tourism routes, offering visitors more exciting travel options during the holiday. Tourists are invited to indulge in local culinary delights and explore traditional cooking techniques, immersing themselves in the vibrant rural festivals of Ningxia. In Helan County’s Diao Yu Space, activities like corn rolling competitions, a miniature train ride through rice fields, and family-friendly fishing have drawn many visitors, providing a nostalgic and interactive experience that evokes a sense of home.
