On the morning of October 23, local time, President Xi Jinping attended the 16th BRICS Leaders’ Meeting in Kazan, Russia. During the gathering, the BRICS leaders took a group photo together.
At the outset, President Xi participated in a smaller meeting, where he welcomed new members joining the BRICS family and invited several nations to become BRICS partner countries. He emphasized that this expansion marks a significant milestone in the development of BRICS and is a notable event in the evolution of the international landscape.
Following that, President Xi took part in a broader meeting, where he shared important insights on the future of BRICS and proposed five key suggestions focusing on building a “Peaceful BRICS,” “Innovative BRICS,” “Green BRICS,” “Fair BRICS,” and “Cultural BRICS.”
In conclusion, Xi highlighted China’s commitment to working with BRICS nations to establish a new paradigm of high-quality development in “Big BRICS Cooperation” and to jointly promote the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
While attending the meeting, President Xi also held talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Later that day, President Xi met with Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi during the meeting’s proceedings.
In the evening, he also engaged in discussions with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi as part of the event.
